Our Story

The History

The Three Musketeers story begins in 1953, outside the Dance Hall at the University of Saskatchewan. A young nursing student named Kay had just stepped off the bus when a tall, confident young man named Jim asked her to be his partner for the evening’s dance. That chance encounter was the start of my grandparents’ love story.

Kay and Jim, “Grams and Grumps” to those who knew them best, built their lives around family. And at the centre of family life was always food. Holiday dinners were grand occasions, and it was around those tables that I grew up with a deep love for baking.

That love of baking followed me into adulthood. I trained and worked in bakeries across Canada and Australia, learning my craft and honing the skills that would eventually lead me to open my own. Naturally, I found myself returning to the very pies and pastries that once graced my family’s holiday table - food that is at once nostalgic, generous, and made to be shared.

The name Three Musketeers comes from my own immediate family story. Raised by a single mother, my sister and I began calling ourselves “The Three Musketeers”, a small but mighty team. In honour of that bond, and the generations of family who showed me the power of food to bring people together, I chose this name for the bakery.
